About Carolyn
I’m an Integrative Therapist. This means that I’m trained to work with different ways of supporting clients, using Gestalt, TA, Mindfulness and CBT. All my work is grounded in person-centred therapy and the idea that each of us already has within us the answers to the most fundamental questions of our lives:
What do I want? What matters most to me? Why am I struggling? What are my values? How do I relate with others? How can I live in a way that brings me happiness and a true sense of meaning and purpose?
I’ve always really enjoyed working with people, with children, young people, adults and families, through times of distress, change and transition as well as happiness and success. Years of doing this work have helped shape the calm, empathetic and caring approach I bring to counselling.
My work supports clients from all walks of life who may be facing anxiety, overwhelm, low mood, relationship difficulties, trauma, family conflict, loss and grief, or life events which may be affecting their wellbeing in ways they may not always understand. I also have specific training in working with people with addiction, in both individual and group settings.
My own life has included significant challenge, change and personal growth. These experiences deeply influence the way I work. I know how frightening it can feel when life unravels, how isolating it is to carry our struggles alone, and how healing it can be when someone listens to us without judgement or expectation.
I believe therapy works best not through clever techniques or ‘something being done to you’, but through steady human connection with a therapist who understands and accepts you in a calm and peaceful space where you can just relax and be completely yourself.
My way of working focuses on your own unique being, working at your pace while deeply respecting the complexity of your inner world.
Clients tell me they feel calmer and more grounded, more confident in who they are and better able to navigate their lives with clarity, confidence and self-trust. I don’t believe anyone is incapable of living a happy confident and creative life, and passionately believe that therapy can be a really positive way to help us do that.
You don’t need to arrive with a plan, the right words, or an idea of where to start. You just need to come exactly as you are.
